Quantum® Donates Life-Changing iLevel® Power Chair

Quantum Rehab® donated a life-changing iLevel® Power Chair to Adam Catlin yesterday afternoon. (Recipient’s position at Walmart was in jeopardy due to a change in the job description.)

Catlin, 30, who has cerebral palsy, works as a greeter at the Selinsgrove Walmart Supercenter in Pennsylvania, and was recently in the news as he was in jeopardy of losing his position due to a change in job requirements that he would be unable to fulfill. Though Catlin will stay at Walmart as a self-checkout host, Quantum recognized that he still needed a better way to get around both at work and at home.

“It’s going to open up a whole new world for me,” Catlin said.

Catlin had been using a specialized walker but was dragging one of his feet along the ground to the point of wearing through two pairs of shoes each month.

“For the first time, Adam was able to go to the refrigerator himself, go outside by himself and sit at the countertop bar to converse and eat with his family,” said Mike Dicello, a Quantum Rehab Product Specialist who has been working with Adam to get him a power chair. “iLevel’s 12 inches of power seat elevation while driving up to 4.5 miles per hour will give Adam independence. He and his family are so humbled and appreciative.”

Customized specifically for him, the Evolution Orange shrouds on Adam’s chair represent his love for his favorite baseball team, the Baltimore Orioles.

“Adam has a great sense of humor,” Dicello said. “He wore his ‘Proud to be a Yankees hater’ Orioles shirt knowing I am a Yankees fan.”
